There are many kinds of materials for rubber sealing rings, such as nitrile rubber, hydrogenated nitrile rubber, silicone rubber, fluorosilicone rubber, EPDM rubber, neoprene, etc. What are the advantages and applications of sealing rings made of different rubber materials?

 

NBR NBR sealing ring

Suitable for petroleum hydraulic oil, glycol hydraulic oil, diester lubricating oil, gasoline, water, silicone grease, silicone oil and other media. It is currently the most widely used and lowest cost rubber seal. Not suitable for polar solvents such as ketones, ozone, nitro hydrocarbons, MEK and chloroform. The general operating temperature range is -40~120°C.

 

HNBR hydrogenated nitrile rubber sealing ring

It has excellent corrosion resistance, tear resistance and compression deformation resistance, and good ozone resistance, sunlight resistance and weather resistance. Better wear resistance than nitrile rubber. It is suitable for washing machines, automobile engine systems and refrigeration systems using new environmentally friendly refrigerant R134a. Not recommended for use in alcohols, esters or aromatic solutions. The general operating temperature range is -40~150°C.

 

SIL silicone rubber sealing ring

It has excellent heat resistance, cold resistance, ozone resistance and atmospheric aging resistance. It has good insulating properties. But the tensile strength is worse than ordinary rubber and not oil resistant. Suitable for household appliances such as electric water heaters, electric irons, microwave ovens, etc. It is also suitable for various articles that come into contact with the human body, such as kettles, water dispensers, etc. Not recommended for use in most concentrated solvents, oils, concentrated acids and sodium hydroxide. The general operating temperature range is -55~250°C.

 

FLS fluorosilicone rubber sealing ring

Its performance has the advantages of both fluorine rubber and silicone rubber, and it has good oil resistance, solvent resistance, fuel oil resistance and high and low temperature resistance. It can resist the corrosion of oxygen-containing compounds, solvents containing aromatic hydrocarbons and solvents containing chlorine. Generally used in aviation, aerospace and military purposes. Exposure to ketones and brake fluid is not recommended. The general operating temperature range is -50~200°C.

 

EPDM three yuan ethylene propylene rubber sealing ring

It has good weather resistance, ozone resistance, water resistance and chemical resistance. It can be used for alcohols and ketones, and can also be used for sealing in high temperature water vapor environment. Applicable to bathroom equipment, car radiator and car brake system. Not recommended for food use or exposure to mineral oil. The general operating temperature range is -55~150°C.

 

CR neoprene seal ring

Sunshine resistance and weather resistance are particularly good. It is not afraid of refrigerants such as dichlorodifluoromethane and ammonia, and is resistant to dilute acids and silicone grease-based lubricating oils, but it has a large expansion in mineral oils with low aniline points. It is easy to crystallize and harden at low temperature. It is suitable for various environments exposed to the atmosphere, sunlight, and ozone, and various flame-resistant and chemical-resistant sealing links. Not recommended for use with strong acids, nitro hydrocarbons, esters, chloroform and ketones. The general operating temperature range is -55~120°C.

 

IIR butyl rubber sealing ring

Especially good air tightness, good heat resistance, sunlight resistance, ozone resistance, and good insulation performance; it has good resistance to polar solvents such as alcohols, ketones, esters, etc., and can be exposed to animal and vegetable oils or oxidizable substances. Suitable for chemical resistance or vacuum equipment. Not recommended for simultaneous use with white spirit, kerosene or aromatics. The general operating temperature range is -50~110°C.

 

ACM Acrylic Rubber Seals

It has good resistance to oil products, high temperature resistance and weather resistance, but its mechanical strength, compression deformation rate and water resistance are slightly poor. Generally used in automobile transmission system and power steering system. Not suitable for hot water, brake fluid, phosphate esters. The general operating temperature range is -25~170°C.

 

NR natural rubber seal ring

It has good wear resistance, elasticity, breaking strength and elongation. However, it is easy to age in the air, becomes sticky when heated, easily expands and dissolves in mineral oil or gasoline, and is resistant to alkali but not to strong acid. It is suitable for use in liquids with hydroxide ions such as automobile brake fluid and ethanol. The general operating temperature range is -20~100°C.

 

PU polyurethane rubber sealing ring

The mechanical properties of polyurethane rubber are very good, and its wear resistance and high pressure resistance are far superior to other rubbers. Aging resistance, ozone resistance and oil resistance are also quite good, but it is easy to hydrolyze at high temperature. Generally used for high pressure and wear resistant sealing links, such as hydraulic cylinders. The general operating temperature range is -45~90°C.

 

FFKM perfluoroelastomer

Excellent chemical corrosion resistance, resistant to most chemicals such as acids, alkalis, ketones, esters, ethers, and strong oxidants. The highest heat resistance can reach 320°C. It is usually used to permanently solve the sealing problem, and the price is nearly a hundred times that of ordinary rubber materials, which is very expensive.
