When selecting seals, it is necessary to consider the following important elements:
I. pressure
The concave convex of the pressure and the length of the pressure cycle change have a great influence on the seal damage (such as extrusion). The higher the pressure is, the greater the influence of other factors on the function of the seal, such as temperature, speed, seal information, clearance between the piston and cylinder barrel, clearance between the piston and cylinder head.

It is difficult to describe the maximum operating temperature and the minimum operating temperature of a seal data, because this is the result of a series of factors. As for the working temperature of piston and piston rod, they should be selected differently.
III. conflict power
The conflict force between seal and seal surface depends on many factors: surface roughness, surface characteristics, pressure, medium, temperature, seal information, seal type and movement speed.
IV. appearance disposal
Experience shows that the characteristics of cylinder piston and piston rod have a great influence on the life of seals. Surface characteristics are defined by the surface roughness Ra, which is the arithmetic mean value of the surface shape against the absolute value of the centerline. However, some numerical values do not completely show the influence of the surface condition on the seal. This is because even under the same roughness, different surface shape characteristics can cause different degree of seal wear and seal selection knowledge.
