Installation Of Y-shaped Rubber Seal Ring

Aug 31, 2023

Y-shaped rubber sealing ring is a kind of rubber seal for reciprocating motion, with a Y-shaped cross section, referred to as "Y-shaped seal". It is generally used in the operating system for hydraulic or pneumatic transmission, and acts as a seal on the piston, piston rod, and cylinder body. It can be molded with high hardness nitrile rubber, or cast with polyurethane rubber, and can also be made into a combination of fabrics. This kind of product has simple structure, good sealing effect, and has self-sealing effect when the pressure increases, but the root of pure rubber products is easy to squeeze out under high pressure. Generally, the pure rubber Y-shaped sealing ring is suitable for occasions where the oil pressure is less than 16 MPa, the line speed is less than 0.5 m•s-1, and the temperature is -30 to 120 ℃. Multi-lip reciprocating rubber seal ring: It is a composite rubber seal with more than two sealing lips. There are different cross-sectional structures according to the conditions of use. Most of them are composed of NBR and a fabric layer. The two can be directly molded into one body, or can be molded separately and vulcanized to form a sealing body. The sealing surface has multiple sealing lips and lubricating oil grooves, so that a small amount of lubricating oil is retained on the surface of the sealing lip during operation, which can reduce friction and dissipate heat. There are generally two plastic retaining rings on the top and bottom of the seal during use to prevent the seal ring from being squeezed into the gap under high pressure. Depending on the structure, its working pressure is generally 20-40MPa, its linear velocity is 0.1-0.2m•s-1, and it can work in hydraulic oil, water and emulsion.

Installation of Y-shaped rubber seal ring

1. Check the surface quality of the seal. Before installing the Y-shaped sealing ring, you must check the surface of the seal. There should be no flashes or burrs. If you find the above conditions, you need to remove the burrs or replace the seal.

2. Check the size and model of the Y-shaped sealing ring. The size and accuracy of the Y-shaped sealing ring must meet the standard requirements. Strictly follow the requirements of the manual and select the same size and specified model, otherwise the compression degree and other requirements cannot be guaranteed.

3. Soak the wear-resistant ring, because the wear-resistant ring is mainly made of (PTFE) filled polytetrafluoroethylene material, which has corrosion resistance and a large thermal expansion coefficient, so you must put it in 100 Soak in oil at 100°C for 20 minutes, let the wear ring become soft gradually, and then install the wear ring into the groove of the piston with tooling.

4. Use special tools. When installing the sealing ring, do not use hammers, hammers and other items to knock in, because this may damage the sealing body, so you should use special tools as much as possible. Apply a little lubricating oil on the inside to reduce resistance for easy installation, and also prevent frictional burns of the sealing body during initial operation.

5. After the installation is completed, it is necessary to check immediately. There must be no wrinkles, twists, reverse installation, etc. If found, it must be taken out and reinstalled immediately, so as to ensure the normal use of the sealing ring in the later stage.
